MY SHOWWWWW IS BACK

the good wife 3x01 )

I kind of feel like I should capslock less about The Good Wife, because... it's such an excellent and adult show. But I am basically just full of squee and love and joy about it. Holy shit so good.
tellitslant: (bop - babs/dinah - rescue me)
Aww, I am on the [community profile] femslash11 pinch-hit list. As I probably deserve, since I, um, forgot to post a Dear Writer letter - so if you've just grabbed my pinch hit, thaaaank you, and a brief commentary on Stuff I Like here )

OH
MY
GOD
THE GOOD WIFE

Warning: this post is approximately equal parts EPIC FLAIL, amazement at the cast/writing/show, and child-of-divorce rage. Just FYI!)

I'm just a Michigan girl, fresh off the boat )

GAH. GAH. Season finale next week and the show still hasn't been renewed. GAH. (eta: just saw that Josh Charles (Will) says the show is coming back and that the renewal will likely be announced next week. PHEW.)

(for those of you who don't get the title of this entry - skip to 2 minutes in)

I just didn't have the time/brain to watch The Good Wife yesterday, and I almost didn't have brain today either, but I watched it anyway. And I still might not have brain, but I have to say stuff about it anyway, because WOW.

stuff )

How has this not yet been renewed? More to the point, how is it the lowest rated scripted show on CBS Sunday-Thursday? This is why we can't have nice things! Because we break them!
tellitslant: (good wife - alicia/kalinda - office)
OH GOD, I don't really have time to post about ANYTHING due to must-be-writing stress (it's extra fun when that stress redirects itself! I nearly hyperventilated on the high street today and had to go in to the bank to prove to myself that the rest of my tuition hadn't evaporated from my account, yay displaced anxiety). HOWEVER. I cannot let another episode of The Good Wife go by without squee. spoilers to last night (ep 2.20), plus incoherency and capslock. )
tellitslant: (good wife - alicia/kalinda - office)
SO TIRED, goddamn. Trying to catch up on sleep after like two weeks of busy-stress-ness. I was probably not actually awake enough to watch this week's tv, but I did anyways, and in brief: yay!

the good wife this week )

white collar returns! )

In other news, comics fandom is being so good to my queer little fangirl self! Okay it, SUCKS that Batwoman #1 has been pushed back to April. Sucks a LOT. But I guess I'd rather have a long wait for #1 than deal with long waits between issues. Still a little cranky about that, but could be worse. (Also, JH Williams says that they have two years of ideas/plans, so I like the sound of that.)

I am super thrilled that Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle in the third Batman. There are not a lot of people who could replace Michelle Pfeiffer in my Selina-loving heart, but Anne is awesome, we've seen in Get Smart that she's decent at action stuff, and I am holding out hope that this means there will be a female character who is not evil or dead by the end of the movie. I still haven't seen Inception so have no opinion on Tom Hardy, but I am pleased that Bane will be included because maybe some of the attention will trickle down to Secret Six...?

Also, stills from X-Men: First Class look promising, especially January Jones as Emma Frost. Little-known fact, Emma Frost was named after Emma Peel and had her original costume based on one from The Avengers, and so I have been particularly enjoying all the commentators saying that her outfits in this film are reminiscent of Diana Rigg. (No, I have not yet figured out a way to work this fact into my thesis.)

Last but not least, I was over at some friends to play the new DC Universe Online game the other night. LOVE.IT. My character design is based off Spider-Woman, which feels kind of silly (because she's a Marvel heroine) but is highly entertaining to watch. I am a villain entirely 100% solely because as a villain you can choose to be mentored by Circe, and Circe is voiced by Michelle Forbes. I'm pretty terrible, but it's fun times.

Aaaand now I have to go write. But this was fun while it lasted. ;)
tellitslant: (good wife - alicia/kalinda - office)
Don't really want to interview four prospective roomies plus deal with marking tomorrow BUT I am not dwelling on it. Really. Here are things that are awesome instead.

Last night's The Good Wife )

I wish I had brain enough to analyze this episode, but basically all I have is IS IT NEXT WEEK YET?

In different, equally-if-not-more awesome news, pictures and details of MAC's Wonder Woman makeup collection. I want it all. I even want the damn coloured mascara because one of the shades is named Themyscira. There is a lipglass named Athena's Kiss (!!!!) and an eyeshadow called Spinning Transformation. Guys. I NEED THESE. I, okay, I have complicated feelings about WW being used to sell makeup, but mostly they are buried under the OMG WANT.

OMG YOU GUYS

YOU GUYS OMG

IIIIIT'S YULETIDE

Okay so, the story I got is a follow-up to another story for a different recipient, so since I had to read that one to understand mine, it's like I got two stories! In the same universe (how often does THAT happen, eh?)! How awesome and delightful! And I have to tell you, I know they were written for me, but man, whoever wrote them must really have stalked my journal or something, because they are squee-flail-bounce perfectly in tune with everything I love about the show and the characters. Plot! Perfect characterization! LOVE.

I can't get commenting to work, so author, if you're reading, that's why I haven't flailed THERE yet. But they are SO GOOD.

So those of you in The Good Wife fandom, go read Everything Changes, Everything Ends first - which is Kalinda/Donna - and then read the one written for ME, Chaser, which is Kalinda and Donna and Alicia and MADE OF WIN. (And the title is SCUCH A GREAT PLAY ON WORDS, btw. *dies*)

And I still have a Madness story that hasn't been revealed! HOW AM I SO LUCKY.

Also! I wrote two stories. One is in a fandom I have written in before, and which I know some of you consume; the other is in a fandom that I don't know if I've talked about except possibly on Twitter, but which is pretty obvious if you know me. So! Guess either one and I will write you a ficlet! (No promises on when. I already owe a couple of things.)

(ugh, my LJ paid account died and now I don't have a Good Wife icon! must possibly remedy.)
tellitslant: (good wife - alicia/kalinda - office)
Okay, I don't have time to write up actual posts, but, GUYS. TALK TO ME ABOUT THE GOOD WIFE.

Goddamn such a good show.

Off to bake stuff! :D
tellitslant: (&heart;)
My very dear Yuletide Writer! Let me blather on at you about what I like!

I like awesome women being awesome. You may pick up on this based on my requests. *g* The canons I'm interested in here have done such amazing jobs giving us strong, flawed, interesting, multi-faceted women that I just want more of all of them.

I like dark fic and happy fic, sexy fic and gen fic, backstory and future-fic, as long as it is in character and in keeping with the feel of the canon. (I mean, you can do happy fic in Secret Six, but it's a very different kind of happy, you know?)

I have tried to give several varied suggestions of what I might want to see in each fandom; what I don't want is a fic that tried to cram them all together into one by flitting about from scenario to scenario. I would much rather see one idea developed than see someone try to pack everything into a thousand words!

I love stories that flesh out moments in canon, giving us a look at the background we knew was there. I like plot. I like getting to know more about characters who have fascinated me for some reason, and findint out why and how they fascinate other people. But mostly, I like that you're writing a story about one of these texts that I love, and that it's for me!

Fandoms: Batwoman, Hope Springs, Secret Six, The Good Wife )

Basically, thank you for writing for me! I will most enjoy something that you enjoy writing, so I hope you have fun with my requests. :)

SO MUCH AWESOME.

First, and briefly, because I so don't have the time to outline all the awesome: The Good Wife. This week's episode, man, amazing on so many levels. Why is everyone not watching this show? Also, DAMN, red is really Alicia's colour. I would like them to do more episodes where everyone is in formalwear.

Second and more importantly, however, [personal profile] zulu wrote me more fic! The Circumference of Comfort is Doctor Who, River/Amy, R, and AWESOME. It gets points for being adorable AND points for not trying to pretend Rory doesn't exist! Now the fic I owe in return will have to be particularly fabulous, but I'll worry about that later and just enjoy this now. Go read, and tell her to write more Who stuff! *g*

And now bedtime so I can get up super early, which is not awesome, but oh well. :D
tellitslant: (good wife - alicia/kalinda - office)
While doing my Yuletide nominations this morning, it occurred to me that Hope Springs is to the, IDK, caper genre as The Good Wife is to the legal genre - female-led, character-driven, emphasis on relationships between women, using the constraints of the genre rather than adhering completely to them; Ellie's husband, like Alicia's, is only a recurring character rather than a main character. I haven't watched all of Hope Springs but feel pretty confident that The Good Wife is better; still, it's almost surprising that the US network version is thriving while the UK version didn't. Go American audiences, I guess! (eta: can't believe it took me this long, but now I kind of want a crossover...) Also, to whoever nominated Batwoman and did not initially include Renee in the character list: what were you smoking, crazy person? Fixed that for you.

Some filming pics have leaked from last night's Doctor Who set. SO EXCITED. It drives me nuts the relaxed attitude to spoilers that seems to have suddenly become pervasive in fandom, though. Tumblr is particularly bad - I don't think you can even do a spoiler cut on reblogs - but LJ/DW is getting laxer as well. I'm not super spoiler-averse, but people were posting uncut lines of dialogue from last night's filming, which is a little farther than I personally want to go. I hate waking up to find my Tumblr dash covered with gifs and quotes from a show that aired in North America the night before, too - at least give me time to download it! argh!

Today I have 800 pages on the history of MI6 to read. It is a truly exciting alternative to the gajillion hours of 24 I watched yesterday (more than halfway through s6, wooooo).
tellitslant: (good wife - alicia/kalinda - office)
News flash: The Good Wife? Still awesome. Awesome enough that even given all the other stuff I am watching it is the only one I feel moved to blog about.

2.02 Double Jeopardy )

I had a pickup and delivery scheduled for sometime between 10 and 4 and both things have now occurred. This means I could go to the seminar thingie on campus... which is kind of a mixed blessing, haha. OH WELL, I should make a good show of it (so I have an excuse to wear my brand new Disney Villains makeup out in the real world)... and then finish my seminar planning. *meeps*

In conclusion, show, you are made of hearts. NEXT WEEK PLS.
tellitslant: (good wife - alicia/kalinda - office)
Ack I have to be on campus (for a stupid stupid meeting ugh) right away and I wanted to just be all YAY THE GOOD WIFE HERE IS MY FAVOURITE THING FROM THIS EP, but it turns out I have like eight billion favourite things EACH EP so here is a quick rundown behind the tag because I am SO EXCITED this show is back.

poking holes in the unicorn defense )

HOW IS THIS SHOW ON MY SCREEN, IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY.

Okay running for the bus now.

tellitslant: (renee - answer the question)
So I thought, and it turns out that I was right, that Hub City - where the Question originated, and which Renee and Tot have probably taken over as one of their home bases now that she's not working out of Gotham - was initially based on a city in Illinois. It may have been given a new identity since (anyone?), but assuming that it hasn't, and given that nothing in Illinois is really that far away from Chicago, I have come to the conclusion that there really needs to be a DCU/The Good Wife crossover.

Because oh my god, Renee and Kalinda would either get on like a house on fire or would hate each other on sight, am I right?

It's never going to get written - because, like I said, audience of two - but damn, it's fun to think about. *g*
tellitslant: (&heart;)
No more new episodes of The Good Wife for a MONTH? How am I going to wait that long omg?

ALSO, the amount of chemistry that Kalinda has with ANYTHING THAT MOVES is seriously amazing. *fans self*
tellitslant: (&heart;)
Guys, there must be shedloads of The Good Wife femslash out there, right? Lots of good Alica/Kalinda, specifically? Or good meaty genfic? Or really any good fic? That you can point me to?

:D? :D?

:D!

(And no, I'm not finished the season yet, so no spoilers pls.)
