Behind the cut is the only piece of Who that surprised me in a good way (by which I mean, none of my friends seriously called it well in advance and I don't want to have Rusty drawn and quartered for it). Which is not to say that the internets as a whole didn't call it. We just didn't beleive it would actually happen.

...so Lucy is a Time Lady? I'm not going to say Romana only because I DON'T WANT RUSTY TO FUCK HER UP. Either that or she... killed the Master in order to bring him back later? Which makes some sense, but actually makes more sense than I would generally associate with vapid Lucy who shares the Master's brand of madness so well. I mean, the chameleon arch artefacts don't seem to work like horcruxes - you can't have more than one at the same time, and you can only set them up through that particular machine. And that ring was clearly on the Master's hand when he was Saxon. So it can't be him in it, can it.
Not that I expect Rusty to maintain internal consistency or anything. But looking at it logically, that cannot possibly be the Master's method of returning. We'll see if our puny earth logic holds out. ;)
OK, the only local fen I know are only just watching the ep and I'm going to get the downstairs neighbours pounding on the ceiling if I continue to shout "WHAT" like I'm doing a Tennant. Wanna discuss? Give me a ring, my number is friendslocked here (international calls are cool too). I may just explode in the meantime.

Date: 2007-07-01 07:53 am (UTC)I haven't seen the old show. Is the picture on the ring significant?
What makes you think it's Romana?

Date: 2007-07-02 02:48 am (UTC)The images on the ring, like the ones on the watches that the Doctor and the Master had, are Gallifreyan symbols and/or writing (writing, I think). So it's clearly a Time Lord thing.
I'm not sure if she's Romana, but as far as I can figure things out, the ring can't belong to the Master because he was wearing it all the time as Saxon, so it can't be him and must belong to another Time Lord. Lucy's the obvious choice because she's the only person he's constantly around, and I think a case could be made that she acts pretty damn weird and might be having memory problems like her old self is leaking through. If she is a Time Lord, then I think there are really only two choices, Romana or the Rani, and I would love to see Romana come back. I suppose we'll see. *g*

Date: 2007-07-02 05:54 pm (UTC)Also there was laughing at the end that sounded like the Master, so I took that to mean he's still around and could come back.
Also, the length of time between seasons is kind of ridiculous, and I'll have forgotten all about all this by the time it's on again. ;)

Date: 2007-07-23 02:35 pm (UTC)Yeah, the ring is really fascinating, isn't it? I prefer the theory that it means Lucy's a Time Lady, but who knows if that'll happen.
Anyways, glad to have you around !:)

Date: 2007-07-23 05:45 pm (UTC)It never occurred to me that she could be a Time Lady (especially since her Earth paperwork seemed to render her real and human according to Smart!Reporter!Lady. If she were a Time Lady...I'm thinking Rani instead of Romana; I can't see Romana working with or for the Master, even if she has A Plan.
It'll be interesting to see what they do.
