So I wrote about four posts last night, but I'll take pity on your flists and spread them out over the day. *g* So first the IMPORTANT one:
HELLO OILERS HOLY CRAP.
We chose an excellent game to go watch on Whyte – because obviously we won, but we also played well, and that last goal was a thing of fucking beauty, man. Seriously. Plus everyone seated at the actual bar got a free tequila shot. *grin*
Whyte was – not quiet, not with the number of horns blaring, but much less crowded than we expected (ETA: apparently 40 arrests last night as opposed to 240 last win). Possibly people had given up on the team. Shame! (OK, I nearly did too, I admit it.) There were cops practically every five feet or so, nevertheless, although my favourite part of the evening was probably seeing the little old grey-haired grannie in front of us reach out and slap a high-five with one of the cops lining the sidewalk. Heee. I am pleased to report, also, that barely any of the noise reaches our apartment – just the occasional screaming drunk passerby. Awesome.
And you know what? If we lose it in the next game, at least we brought it home once more, and if we lose it in the game after that, then at least we took it to game seven. There's no bad here – and honestly, ever since we squeaked into eighth seed and made it to the finals, there has been no bad.
…did you see that last goal? Did you? Oh, Pisani, do it again.

Date: 2006-06-15 03:15 pm (UTC)Honestly, there wasn't a lot to take pictures of - it was fairly tame.

Date: 2006-06-15 03:18 pm (UTC)Actually, I rode my bike home via Whyte Avenue and got to enjoy the decorated vehicles and the happy, happy people.

Date: 2006-06-15 03:41 pm (UTC)I think the smaller crowd must have partly had to do with the fact that it was an away game, too. Less interest when there won't be anybody actually streaming in from across the river.

Date: 2006-06-15 04:10 pm (UTC)You might be right about the crowd size - we'll have to see what it's like on Saturday of all days. (Want regular updates then too? *g*)

Date: 2006-06-15 05:08 pm (UTC)Actually, it gets worse: the last two NDP federal meetings were on the night of a home game, too. Including the one where I was elected president. *headdesk*

Date: 2006-06-15 05:11 pm (UTC)I will definitely keep you posted on Friday, pending dropping my phone in my drink or something - seriously, I started texting you back just as Pisani hit the breakaway, and I was "Crap! Phone - TV - phone - TV - HOLY CRAP! *throws up arms* HOLY CRAP MY PHONE!" Hee. Kept my grip on it, that's what's important.

Date: 2006-06-15 05:15 pm (UTC)Will you text me on every goal? I think I'll be out to dinner with my panel during the game. *checks schedule* Yep, out to dinner.
