I would just like to point out that we watched three-quarters of a season of BSG yesterday. OK, so I skipped out on a couple of the middle episodes, but I feel that's mitigated by the fact that I'm re-watching the finale with another friend later tonight. Because, you know, there's nothing like totally overdosing right before going cold turkey.

I don't have a lot of thoughts about the finale - although I think I had some at one this mornng when I couldn't get to sleep because my brain wouldn't shut up - but until I re-watch, here's what I have so far.

I wasn't initially sure about the One Year Later schtick, but the transition was handled so very, very well I can't find it in myself to really dislike it. Although if they've been on a planet for over a year, don't you think they'd at least have rudimentary buildings, not still open-to-the-wind tents?

I wonder how Gaeta got roped into being Baltar's Billy. Betcha he's thinking twice about having been so honest and upright and squealing on Tigh. Psh.

Also, that was a damn clumsy way of fixing an election. You'd think they could stagger the fix or something. I am glad that it was Tori's fix and not so much Roslin's, because, I don't know, I'd like to think Laura's smarter than "OK, so the last ship is going to totally buck trends and be ALL FOR ROSLIN, kay?"

So, Baltar having sex with Gina? Gina with the scars on her back so deliberately foregrounded? Creeped me the fuck out. Mad props to Tricia Helfer for that, because it was well acted and just... yeah. Did not do much for my Baltar-hate. Although I kind of love that it was kind of, "OK, I have to blow myself up, but I've kind of been enjoying this life thing! ...I'll have sex with Gaius, that'll do it."

Speaking of creepy, wow, bearded union leader Tyrol and his pregnant girl whose jaw has finally healed? ALSO CREEPY. I mean, the forgiveness scene was lovely, but with no middle ground? This is not!

Obviously one of the rules of any cold planet is that no one is allowed to cut their hair for fear they'll freeze. No, really, sound medical reasoning there. (Am I the only one who kinda likes Kara's hair? I think it softens her face a lot.)

Loved Tigh's face when Kara actually hugged him, and Ellen. I think that was really cute, and I can't wait to see them all working together! It's fun that all the military types are scattered, but the structure still holds - Tyrol caling Kara "Captain," for example.

I also can't wait to see how Caprica!Six deals with real!Baltar, who is so much less than the Baltar in her head is. I really want to see a scene with all four of them - the corporeal Six and Baltar, and the mental Six and Baltar - all going at once. It could be so very well much fun.

I was ready to be really pissed off at Lee for withholding meds based on that one drunken incident, so I am pleased that it was the timing of the Cylon arrival more than anything that forced his hand.

Laura the schoolteacher! *glee* First, I would like to say that I think it's so awesome that all through the series, characters have been snarking about how Laura wasn't fit for the presidency because she was a schoolteacher, but - guessing here - now that she's a schoolteacher again and no longer the president, she is going to save all their asses. Second, hee, she's so much fun with all the kids! Third, Amy, we are so writing the teacher!kink. And fourth... she really is keeping a close eye on how Maya is raising that kid, eh? Like, very close. *giggles*

I had more thoughts than I expected. Aaaand I only have ten minutes left, so I'm gonna go see what other people are saying. :) And then go watch this again.

Oh, and also! Notes: Adama's moustache is hilarous. More Leoben next season YAY! And I cannot wait to see how the fleet Cylons - like d'Anna - and the occupying Cylons are played together.

Not if everybody moved down there at once, and they're short on natural resources. It's not like their ships were designed to convert into on-land housing.

Speaking of creepy, wow, bearded union leader Tyrol and his pregnant girl whose jaw has finally healed? ALSO CREEPY. I mean, the forgiveness scene was lovely, but with no middle ground? This is not!

I got the feeling that Tyrol never really reciprocated Cally's feelings. Well, it'd be kinda hard - she's pretty deep in love. But my view was that he felt so guilty over it all that he just went along with it. I mean, she's pretty damn big. How fast did she get knocked up, anyway???

I really want to see a scene with all four of them - the corporeal Six and Baltar, and the mental Six and Baltar - all going at once. It could be so very well much fun.

HELL. FUCKING. YEAH.

Or even a scene without the mindfrakkers, where the corporeal ones tell each other a bit about their insanity....

I'm a bit concerned at that baby, though. Even for a preemie, she should be more developed and larger at a year.

I just think that if the climate is cold enough for them to be in layers, one of the first moves would be some centralized buildings.

Well, Baltar's an idiot, and the union's on strike. Bet they're using their landed ships as communal buildings, actually - and Roslin just got stuck with a big tent because, again, Baltar's a bratty idiot.

Thank you for providing the discs. I know we said that a couple times, but really, thank you.

One Year Later didn't bother me, either, but much of me wishes for a little more content on that time. On the other hand, if it means some juicy flashbacks, I'm okay with that ... as long as we never again see the legend "48 hours earlier."

Gaeta was born to be Baltar's Billy. I love that he showed some weakness in the latter half of the season, and I'd like to see him face some serious ethical or moral crisis next season. And then grow a spine and beat someone to death with it. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

Clumsy election fixes seem to work pretty well in the real world.

Giving someone sex as a thank-you-goodbye gift is almost as icky as rape. That was tough to watch. (In part because that poor girl really needs a sammich.) Helfer is finally getting a chance to show off her mad acting skills, and she's so much more attractive (except ew, I don't want to see your ribs) without the platinum.

Tyrol has not been working for me lately, and I'm not sure whether it's the actor or the material. I have a feeling he's with the lass out of guilt. Either that or he can't get out of the habit of sleeping with junior officers from the hangar bay.

I am with [livejournal.com profile] lindylousmith in not liking Kara's improbably long hair. Generally, I like long hair, but it's not for her.

Ellen is rapidly becoming my third-favorite character, especially after the pre-bathroom scene, and I only hope Tigh can be brought up to her speed to make them a wacky pair.

I really want to see a scene with all four of them - the corporeal Six and Baltar, and the mental Six and Baltar - all going at once.

Now I do, too!

I like to hope that Lee and Kara are not quarreling over the drunken macking but about some later, as-yet-unseen event.

Adama's mustache almost made me shave when I recognized a few incidental similarities. Oy.

Either that or he can't get out of the habit of sleeping with junior officers from the hangar bay.

That's actually why I think it was definitely guilt - I don't think he ever really got over Boomer, and I don't think he'd just fall in love with somebody else in that situation again. (I also think that's the real reason he beat up Cally, not that she woke him from his suicide dream. It was a great excuse to beat up on the person who killed the cylon he thinks he shouldn't've loved, even if he wasn't conscious of his actions or motivation.)

Now I can't wait for Sharon the Cylon hero to encounter Cally with Tyrol.

Oh, yes. That'd be great. Maybe Cally can kill her all over again.
