Me, I think this show is coming out of its midseason slump. *grin*
OK, first off, I laughed so hard to see that the car Anders was slumped against had a vanity plate. SEXYMOM. *facepalm* Cracked me up. Also, those were punch buggies in the garage, weren't they? Honestly, it's the little things.
Minor point that, argh, it was seven months that Roslin had left to serve in Adar's presidency and now nine months have passed, but my viewing partner fanwanked that "Water" could have been two months into their flight - could it have?
If there is no femslash out of this episode, then I will be so sad. SO sad. Because, come on, Lucy Lawless was creepy sexy in this episode. Wow. Admittedly I am a big fan of LL anyways. But yeah, she and Six - heh, it's like anime now that we have more numbers, 3x6, right? - totally need to get it on. And Caprica and Sharon were pretty interesting also.
Interesting to note that the models do seem to be built for different purposes - like, the Fives? Get all the menial jobs, such as serving in the cafe or digging and planting flowers.
Usually I hate that misdirected storytelling, but, wow. We totally gasped and squeed when it looked like Gaius was a Cylon and then when it came out that he wasn't. That was excellent. And I have so much love for Gaius in Caprica's brain. So much. For one, we get smooth playa!Gaius, who is just too excellent for words. And for another - who is pulling these strings? Someone is! It's also fascinating that mind!Six is manipulating real!Gaius in a totally different direction from the one in which mind!Gaius is manipulating real!Six. ...OR IS SHE.
You think that's confusing, you should have heard us talking about Caprica!Sharon who was Galactica!Sharon before Caprica!Sharon became Galactica!Sharon. It gets stupid funny.
So much Laura love, for finally getting it and keeping Baltar totally out of the loop on the adoption. Although it kind of skeeved me out that she just handed this child off to a civvie without saying "By the way, keep an eye on her, eh?" I understand its for secrecy, but yeah, kinda weird. Also, "If I wanted to throw a baby out an airlock, I would say so." *grin*
Obligatory perv moment: damn, Mary McDonnell is looking hot lately. No really. *cough*
So, the kid's named Hera? First off, I find it hard to believe that a Cylon would name her child after one of the Lords of Kobol, and second, did they just pull a Greek godess name out of their hat or what? I don't know where they're going with that attribution. Especially since Zeus has already been used in conjunction with Adama, so yeah, that's a little off. *shrug* Hopefully there actually is a reason for using that particular name, but we will see! If there's not I will be sad.
I'm very glad that Lucy Lawless is coming back next season, and given the leadin we have here, it makes it even more potentially interesting.
Also, assuming that the fleet does go back to Caprica, I will be so, so fascinated to see real!Gaius and real!Six meet, now that they each have the other in their head.
I can't believe there are only two more episodes! That's so wrong. Anyone know if next season is going to be a ten-ten split again?

Oh, and I'm working on fic... Not sure if it's gonna be 3x6, 3x8, 6x8, or 3x6x8.... *veg*

Date: 2006-02-26 11:39 am (UTC)I hadn't noticed that, but that's a good observation! I'd been wondering if they were going too strongly in the direction of having them be "just like humans," with the café thing and the apartments and all that stuff. This is a good point that their society would still be structured differently.
but my viewing partner fanwanked that "Water" could have been two months into their flight - could it have?
Not really. The timing is all off, indeed. Water was three days after the destruction of the Olympic Carrier, pretty explicitly. That bugged me, too.
Obligatory perv moment: damn, Mary McDonnell is looking hot lately.
Lately? *raises eyebrows* Hee.
BTW, I've only just now really noticed your LJ header, and wow! Pretty!

Date: 2006-02-27 01:27 am (UTC)I couldn't remember if there was an actual timeline given in "Water," so thank you. *sigh* I hate when there is an explicit mention of something and then it's discarded.
OK, Mary is looking even hotter than usual lately. You haven't noticed? Now that she doesn't have to look like she's dying, she's even sexier than ever. *grin*
And thank you!

Date: 2006-02-27 02:26 pm (UTC)Also glad to see Lucy Lawless come back. I was afraid she'd be a "one shot" guest appearance cylon.
