UGH I got spoiled for Chameleon!Doctor, dammit twitter, because that was a revelation I would have liked to shriek at the tv about. Slightly redeemed by being able to shriek about CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS OMG. Oh Jack. Kind of wish they'd let him be as silver fox as John Barrowman now is, for the lols, but tbh quite pleased he really hasn't changed at all.
I heard somewhere last week that Jodie Whittaker had just confirmed another series on the show, which I'm sure was a timed announcement so people wouldn't think this was a ploy to write her off, but... that must mean that C!Doctor is a one-and-done, or at best a several-and-done, and... I'm fucking delighted to see a Black woman as the Doctor! But if that's set up as an alternate-universe-time-stream-gone-wrong thing that needs to somehow be fixed... I am gonna be less fucking delighted. Like, how do you make that work without being kind of shitty? Unless they're spinning her off - in which case it's still kind of shitty because then she's the secondary Doctor. BLERF.
That said I LOVED HER. She's just enough off of the normal Doctor - just that bit more bloodthirsty and, well, ruthless (ha) (although also not a great look for the first Black Doctor?) - and yet that same core is solidly there. Whatever, I love her look, I love her GLASSES, I am shipping her with River very very hard.
