WOW this ep of The Good Wife was cinematographically a love letter to their first season, wasn't it? That final scene - Alicia at the podium - was framed and cut perfectly to echo her standing there with Peter in the first episode. I love how smart this show is, I love it.

Also: Elsbeth. That is all.

I wasn't nuts about it, but I did like the last scene and especially the last montage with all of the contrasts. It could be argued that it was too on-the-nose, but I frankly didn't care. :)

The quirky parts of this show are not really for me, and they were not only in abundance in this episode, they were actually even more over-the-top than usual. And kind of confusing.

Yeah, and I totally had mixed feelings about that. I liked seeing the Kalinda I loved, but it also really underscored the fact that she is just not allowed to grow on this show.

It wasn't just the podium scene - wasn't there also something, either in the first episode ever or in one of the flashbacks to that day later in S1, some Alicia Peter confrontation in a caterer's back hallway outside the press-conference room?

When I first realised that they were going to show us something from Elsbeth's point of view that was going to explain what was going on in her head, I had this weird flash of disappointment, because I didn't want that magical thing explained, especially in a way that made her seem wacky and not in control of it.

She's openly thrilled to see Alicia, and Alicia uses what she understands about Elsbeth without thinking twice, because she's not like that any more.
