Caught up on the last FIVE episodes of Korra today. I have no regrets. What I have are all the feelings about Lin Beifong. Who is, and this is not a spoiler, an amazingly badass motherfucker.



OH MY GOD, LIN BEIFONG. With the awesome and the ropeswinging and the clothesbending and the saving and being saved by Korra and the inappropriate backstory with Tenzin where the real story is that she was clearly more in love with Pema but the whole threesome thing just didn't quite work out. *explodes* Good lord I have a lot of feelings about this woman. And want a lot of fic. Really a lot of fic. Lin/Tenzin/Pema. Aang and baby!Lin. Lin/Korra. ALL THE LIN. sophia_gratia mentioned Asami/Korra/Lin, and I don't yet know how that would work, but I could totally be convinced.

I was completely unspoiled for the moment of pure AWESOME in the end of 1x06, with the pro-bending competition being attacked and Lin suddenly pulling out previously unexpected mad skillz, and the subsequent fight sequence with her and Korra was FANTASTIC. They saved each other! Neither of them got mad at having to save each other! Lin all of a sudden figured out that Korra isn't just some figurehead! THE BADASSERY DOES NOT END! It was amazing. And then in 1x09 WITH THE CLOTHESBENDING, holy shit. Getting out of bed and being all, I don't care that it hurts, I will go and break those kids out of jail anyways!

Um. Did I mention a lot of feelings about Lin Beifong. I have them.

Also of note: KORRA. Awkward kickass buff brainy Korra! I love everything about her, from her pro-bending playing to her poor love decisions. We've all made 'em, Korra. Get it together, but hey. The whole escaping from being electrocuted by hanging from a strip of cloth thing? WAS AMAZING. Also, SNOWBENDING, lord that would come in handy in Edmonton winters. I love that she is not perfect - I mean, the Avatar team are good at that in general, but it makes me really happy with Korra, because she could so easily have been open to Mary Sue-type criticism and she so is not

Asami! ALSO THE GREATEST. Her hair is distracting, as is her general awesomeness. It doesn't matter that she's not a bender! She can still hold her own with her electrocution device! And don't piss her off! I sincerely hope they are not going to be too heavy-handed with the love-triangle thing. I kind of thought that was over.

BOLIN. Bolin Bolin Bolin, I love everything about his dorky face, with his wanting makeovers and his public weepyness and his sporting awesomeness and his unzipped fly and his fire-ferret tricks. He is so adorable I could just squish him.

I, um. So, the plot. Has stuff. No, okay, I am intrigued to see how this all gets wrapped up. I am a bit saddened that Amon is going to be a one-season villain, glad that amon is not Tarrlok, curious as to how exactly Amon is resistant to blood-bending, and generally thoroughly enjoying everything about the show except some of the love triangle stuff.

I also adore the Twenties feel, especially the newsreel format used for the previouslys. Fantastic.

I like Asami a lot as a character and was not expecting to. I like that right now she's awesome, skilled, and reasonable. I think she's too rich of a character to be just a jealous girlfriend/obstacle in a love triangle and I will be a little disappointed if it goes that route.

I also like that Lin puts her armor on like Iron Man.

I'm hoping that the season break will bring us long, meaty fic about Lin and Tenzin and their families and that awkward moment when you realise growing up together and falling in love at a young age doesn't make you soulmates.

There seems to be no Lin/Tenzin/Pema in the word. WHICH IS SAD, but I think it's because Linzin shippers are frequently deeply misogynistic towards Pema. (http://squiddishly.tumblr.com/post/24944769591/if-you-need-some-fannish-misogyny-in-your-life-i) (I've even seen Highly Feminist Concerns that she's just a womb/brood mare/doormat, which, okay, guys, are you sure these aren't just your issues at work?
