Women's Studies 101 had been a bit contentious for Diana's first term. She got a reputation as "that girl" in the class, the one who was super old-school and hardcore in her feminist doctrine and not afraid to argue about every single point that came up in class. She didn’t tell about how she’d been raised, because they’d just treat her like a freak, and anyway they had no right to know.

OH MY GOD it is an I Dream of Jeannie fic about the Cold War with hilarious use of Russian mythology AND I LOVE IT TO PIECES.
I said, but Master, my memory is perfect, genies always remember everything! and my Master said, what about the time Major Healey and I thought your sister might be impersonating you, and we asked you what we had done just the night before, and you didn't remember? and I shrugged, and then he said, and what about all the times I told you to stay home, and you didn't remember I said that? and I shrugged, and then he said, and what about all the times I told you to not use your powers because that only Makes Things Worse, and you didn't remember I said THAT? and I said, but Master, if genies were predictable, we would not be genies! and Major Healey said, ain't that the truth.

(It occurs to me only now that you have never lived with me and thus don't actually necessarily know what I'm like before my first cup of coffee has metabolized. Mean, is what I am.)
But then... Academia anthropomorfic?! Is that, like, a thing, or just this one story? I don't... I... ah, what? The internet will never stop surprising me.
Oh, wait, back to mocking you about Cersei/Jaime. Mnnahahahaha.

Date: 2011-12-27 06:03 pm (UTC)I think I have seen other academia anthropomorfics, though I haven't read/enjoyed a lot of them. There seems to be a rather bizarre subset of it all that is Oxbridgian, personifying colleges and the like. Just when you think academics can't get aaaany weirder... :P
And less Cersei/Jaime and more just Cersei, but be honest, does it really surprise you that I love me some Lannisters?

Of COURSE there is. Eeeeeegh.
I guess it shouldn't surprise me, no. I just find her appalling because
spoiler redacted. Maybe I'll write the bit of Ladies Of ASoIaF meta I've been thinking about to address what rubs me the wrong way about Cersei, which is half that I think GRRM could have taken a more compelling route with her and half that the character he did design is so completely off-putting for Miscellaneous Reasons Of Feminism. But that will wait another day.
