Wow, this episode was remarkably topical, wasn't it? Great timing. God, Diane just STOLE this week's show.
I continue in my desire to be Eli Gold. Taking Diane's glasses like that was geeeeenius.
I am going to ignore that I'm pretty sure Computers Don't Work Like That in order to lol at the sudden Creepy Jackie Video popping up. Oh dear. This is another of those storylines that's kind of uncomfortable to watch, though, because it strikes a little close to home: the negotiating of in-laws who suddenly become estranged :/ God, that final standoff between Alicia and Jackie, though. The women on this show are just - wow.
EPIC SQUEE about the return of Wendy Scott-Carr, OH MY GOD. I had no idea she was coming back, and thankfully neither Tumblr nor Twitter spoiled me. :P I love the whole investigating-Will storyline. The Kalinda/Dana flirtation is fanTASTIC, and I was actually quite shocked to see Dana in bed with Cary (and quite glad, as I would have been a liiiittle judgey if Kalinda'd taken a drunk gal to bed, y'know?). Where ARE they going with this lovely little triangle? Probably not to a threesome. Sigh.
Love how maternal Alicia is towards the defendant. Aww.
Diane versus Wendy. Again, wow.
ALSO, DIANE AND WILL, DEAR GOD. How amazing is Diane? Diane is all of the amazing. ALL OF IT. Of course, even if Will and Alicia stop sleeping together, Peter won't necessarily believe it, nor is he likely to be forgiving.
"Get your coat - let's buy you a car." HOLY SHIT, ALICIA. :D :D :D
Oh Diane. OH DIANE. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PUNCTURE ELI'S WHINY MANPAIN MOMENT. THIS SHOW. I LOVE IT. I LOVE WHAT IT REFUSES TO DO WITH MEN AS MUCH AS WHAT IT DOES WITH WOMEN. Just - POP, there goes his giant bubble of an ego. A-FUCKING-MAZING.
I am not shipping Diane/Eli. I am not. But damn, I love that they're drinking buddies.
I really love that this show refuses to be comfortable.

Date: 2011-11-21 11:12 pm (UTC)The only thing you missed: the way the line "the problem with the charge of scapegoating is that it doesn't acknowledge that at a certain point you have to hold people accountable" seems to be foreshadowing about the Will storyline as well as directly relevant to the A-plot in this episode. Sheer genius writing.
I love, love, love the fact that they're foregrounding Diane in this season. I'm a little bit sad that it means less Kalinda time, but Diane got short shrift last season, and it's great to see her shine.

Date: 2011-11-21 11:50 pm (UTC)You're right, I didn't pay much attention to the end bit there. I love how it inverted our perception of the judge, too; we spent so long thinking her heartless and then she not only reveals that she's a mother, but also points out the heartlessness of the defence in erasing those who died. Which definitely makes her dislike of Will more important.
There definitely isn't enough Kalinda this season! What we are getting of her is pretty amazing, though.

Also, I never thought that I would be consistently identifying with Eli Gold.

Date: 2011-11-22 09:27 am (UTC)we're going to be amazing friends. :)
Diane rocked this ep hardcore, and she really needed too. It had been awhile since she was the centre. (also...she was REALLY hot in the drinking buddies scene)
