First off:
I CAN'T STOP WATCHING THIS. TIM AND MATT ARE THE CUTEST. And clearly in serious competition. :DDD (Matt = winnar.) My favourite part starts at around 2:10, ftr.
ANYWAYS, WHITE COLLAR.
Two episodes into season two and I am still FLAILYHANDS IN LOVE with the show. The actors and their chemistry still just floor me. I am super impressed that the creative team have gone to such lengths to keep Elizabeth in the show even through Tiffani's pregnancy. And I am BEYOND THRILLED that we are getting interviews like "Oh, if Neal and Peter trusted each other they'd be in bed together, and we don't want to go there yet." (SHOOOOOOW.)
On the other hand, this episode kind of had the clunkiest, most tell-don't-show writing as of yet, and it really threw me out of enjoying the show.
I can't find the bits that really annoyed me now, but there were a few that were just like "INFO DUMP INFO DUMP INFODUMP Peter and Neal being cute!" and, well. It made me cranky. Although I guess if I can't find them now it couldn't have been that bad, right?
I was also less than impressed with the Diana storyline this episode. Not with Diana herself, mind - how brilliant is she? Totally a self-rescuing princess, did you check her taking the thug down before any backup was needed? LOVE. HER. And while I can handle the whole "let's make her a hooker" plotline - face it, what White Collar is about isn't originality, but sparkle and wit - I am going to get very sick, very fast, of the whole "Neal's just gonna keep flirting with her" schtick. Some of it was done very well, but some of it felt very "I know you're gay, but I'm totally the exception, because I'm so hot, right?" Which is not classy. I think Diana's half was well-written, but Neal occasionally crossed a line or two. I have high hopes that it's been resolved through the whole bonding thing that happened at the end of this ep, but it was just not good. Also, while I am pleased to keep hearing about Christy/Kristy (do we know how to spell her name?), I will totally be unhappy if they break the two of them up. Diana is too awesome for that!
Also, while again - love that they're keeping El in it - I don't actually need to hear three times in five minutes that she's in San Francisco. Sloppy writing.
Thigns I did loooooove beyond the telling: Neal saying he's never lied to Peter. That? Was ADORABLE. Also? PETER'S 'STACHE. NEAL PLAYS NINTENDO. SUPERAWESOME. (Oh, and playing spot-Marsha's-accent. Cuteness!)
And, unlike many people, I do not mind Peter and Diana conspiring to keep Neal out of the whole music box thing, because a) it's so not going to work, b) there is going to be excellent angst out of it, and c) it's a sign of how much they loooooove him.
So, you know, it is still one of my favourite things in the universe right now. But clean it up, writers!

Also, I am going to have that damn song stuck in my head for the rest of EVER, and I'm not nearly as annoyed by it as I should be. ♥_♥
