what I just finished:
You guys, SUCH A GOOD BOOK: The Tiger's Daughter by K Arsenault Rivera. Do you like your historical fantasy sword lesbians a little less white than the average? This book is the start of a trilogy, set in an alternate East Asia, basically analogous to Mongolia and China, full of political intrigue and female warriors and creepy demons and god-given powers and, yes, sword lesbians. Well, one is a bow-and-arrow lesbian, really. But still. I got sold on it by a friend who called it Xena-esque. It does get a bit unexpectedly gory at points but OH I enjoyed it immensely. I am very impatient for the sequel to come in at the library. I believe the third comes out later this year. WANT NOW.
Also, Thornbound by Stephanie Burgis, sequel to last week's Snowspelled. Like the last, this was engrossing, but a very quick read - I think it took me an evening to get through (it came out yesterday). I wish they were longer. But I guess that's a good thing to wish, right? ;) This is like its prequel: politicking, magic, interpersonal entanglements, fairies. I like it.
what I'm reading now:
Out of the Blue by Sophie Cameron, which I think is due back to the library in a couple days and I am not sure if I'm into enough to finish. But I don't have anything else on the go, so I might do so by default.
what I'm reading next:
No idea! I believe there's a new Seanan McGuire out next week, so that, soon, but otherwise nothing is jumping out at me. I did grab a free e-book off Tor's email list a couple weeks ago, so I should give that a whirl. And I went to request the new Ann Leckie only to discover we don't have it in e-book format, but I cannot rec another book for purchase for twenty-four more days. Woe.
