Um, guys. If you are at all comic book fans and you are not reading "Secret Six," you are missing out. It is amazing. It's written by Gail Simone and the current run is drawn by Nicola Scott, which should be enough to draw anyone in just off the bat, I mean come on. If that's not enough:
It's a villain team. Sort of. Well, it's got Catman, and briefly the Mad Hatter, and Vandal Savage's daughter Scandal Savage (I know, I cringe too, but she's seriously awesome). And a literally insane, disturbingly adorable amoral weirdo named Ragdoll. You may have seen them already in "Birds of Prey" (where they were also, predictably, awesome), but they also had a few series of their own, specifically a 2006 six-issue mini and an ongoing series now (issue 8 next month, I believe).
They recruit the Mad Hatter to take on Doctor Psycho! There are roadtrips! There's Cheetah! Artemis shows up in a couple of months! There are awesome queer characters! And an original character who's a cross between a brothel mistress and, well, a French brothel mistress with deadly martial-arts skills!
The art and the writing are both extremely smart. I read the 06 mini and the current series so far this evening and I laughed until I cried, I am not even joking. i just need to catch up with their original intro as "Villains United," and then I'll be good.
Anyways. I have to go re-read now. Maybe tomorrow I will post some scans and see if I can pimp any of you further (though if you weren't pimped just by Gail Simone, you may be hopeless).
