My strategy this week was to finish the last of my Thanksgiving leftovers before Scott & Bailey, thus anaesthetizing myself with tryptophan so I could get through the ep unscathed. It kind of worked?
This is not a full ep review, but just a brief digression off the first line of the ep, or at least what I think that line is.
Okay so, when Gill pulls up in her car and is on the phone, I'm almost certain that what she says is "Just to reiterate, slap, I don't need a plus-one, I need a stand-in. Yeah, well, think about it." So clearly that's Gill trying to get out of going to the ceremony that night to accept her commendation for bravery by getting Julie to stand in for her, right?
This brings up so many delightful possibilities, like: are Gill and Julie each routinely the other's plus-one for police ceremonies? Did Gill genuinely choose Julie as the person she'd most want to receive an award on her behalf? And Gill ends up going on her own, so did Julie tell her no? Why? Did she maybe show up anyways, to see her best friend get a commendation?
...yeah. All that out of two lines of dialogue. /o\
