Yeah, I totally don't blame you. I was thinking the other day that DW is the only thing I fangirl that doesn't pass the Bechdel test, and there are racial/nationalist/gender/etc nuances that I completely understand being put off by. (That said, I think the last series is better than most of the previous ones (although not great, I feel I should clarify - just better); it's all about the childlike wonder, all of a sudden, for me.) Part of what I love about River is how much she completely subverts so many of the problematic tropes in the show, though. Plus she is MADE OF AWESOME, and also hot. So I am glad to hear you're considering, at least, checking her episodes out! :D
