Um, so all I have for Secret Six is OMG Bane and OMG Scandal and OMG Artemis (a lot of that, in fact) and some OMG Diana.
OK, that monster looks creepily like one from Wonder Woman vol2... the one with Deathstroke, was it? Drax? Issue, like, 61? I find that disconcerting. I also find it disconcerting that I just pulled that knowledge out of my head.
Oh, Jeannette, may your disdain for the Amazons never die, at least not till after some serious bouts of hate!sex. I am not sure what I think of little ms Purple Ray, though - wtf is that about?
OK, Scandal all hyped up on the Venom is simultaneously really creepy and majorly awesome.
Eight billion points for Ragdoll not only being amazing, but also being the one to solve the moral dilemma there, haha.
LOVE that Jeannette is prone to bouts of total crazy hallucinations. I sincerely hope that gets played with more in the future. I find her so adorable when she's lost her mind!
I OH MY GOD, you guys, Artemis. HOW AWESOME is Artemis, and all the Amazons, ready to die rather than endanger Themyscira or live as slaves, I just. OH MY GOD, I want to hug them all. At least Artemis got a hug from Diana, being also particularly amazing.
And ok, totally DID NOT SEE it coming with Bane taking over the team, wtf, AND KICKING SCANDAL OFF. WHAT. THE FUCK. And next issue is a Deadshot issue, so we have two MONTHS before this gets sorted? Just... WHAT? *flail*
In conclusion, Gail Simone = AWESOME WITH A SIDE ORDER OF WTFAMAZING.
Hey, have I mentioned my love for Renee Montoya on here recently? I THINK NOT.
OK, I adore how Renee having trouble keeping track of her hat is a motif, and one the writers call attention to. I know it's just a cheap knockoff of Indiana Jones, but hi, have you met me? Any kind of knockoff of Indy is fine with me.
I still love Dick as Batman. He is just as much an ass as Bruce could have been, but it's so much funnier somehow (see: shooting Renee out of the ejector seat without warning. EPIC LULZ). I also like that Renee totally called that he was a different Bat and he was all, yeah, ok, you caught me. And I do enjoy him being all chatty behind the cowl.
On repeated exposure to Damien, I kind of take back what I said. I like the concept, but the character... grates. In much the same way I bet Jason Todd grated, though - but still.
SO MUCH LOVE for Renee being very business-as-usual around Harvey and then having to be all "How did you know?" And Harvey's answer is literally that even though she's a dyke, she's got such a great ass he'd recognize it anywhere. OH HARVEY, STAY CLASSY AND AWESOME.
ALSO OMG. "Uhm, the manly pat on the back is okay with you, right? Being a wimpy Batman and all?" I do not know whether I love Renee or Dick more for that exchange, for serious.
LOOOOOVED seeing Renee hold her own with Bat-foes in this, being all super-heroic and kick-ass. I of course enjoy the Rucka storyline, but that's so self-contained (at least for the moment), seeing her out and about was a real treat!
Also, ohmygod the "Lil Gotham" bit of the annual was so incredibly cute I want to hug it.
And, um, discovered in the back of the issue - am I the only one who didn't know that as part of Blackest Night Greg Rucka is writing an issue of The Question with both Questions in it? dfkjfks AWESOME. Between this and his Wonder Woman issue I may have to start, you know, paying attention to Blackest Night.
