[sarah jane investigates]

So word on Outpost Gallifrey is that there's another Who spinoff in the works: Sarah Jane Investigates. The catch (aka why I'm not all over your flist with squee)? It's rumoured for CBBC.

I don't want a kiddie Sarah Jane show. *g*

Well, ok, yes, I'll take any amount of Lis Sladen the BBC wants to put on my TV screen, but come on. Why don't they just put her on Torchwood? That way they avoid the too-many-spinoffs syndrome and Jack can flirt shamelessly with her! Come on, Beeb, there is no bad here. (I'd even take a regular guest star role on TW as opposed to a regular... I'm easy...)

On the plus side, I am ridiculously pleased that the BBC recognise that everyone loves Sarah Jane.

eta: I just noticed that RTD is supposed to be writing this. Does he write for kids? *g* That... almost makes me feel better, since I'm assuming that one way or the other there will be less Crazy Shippiness in something like this, and I do (mostly) like Rusty's writing outside that. Although I should never assume, because he did bring the Doctor/Sarah shippy.

Yo!
Saw your "Still Running" icon on [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho_eps and wandered over to find out where you got it from (since the comments say it was made for you, I guess it's not stealable?), only to stumble across this exciting SJ news!
But yeah, CBBC... that could be so... euurgghh... Don't they realise that they're totally aiming at the wrong target audience?
Maybe if they realise it's all grown-ups watching it, they'll move it. After all, Star Trek was originally in a kids's slot, and Doctor Who itself has been considered a kids' show...
Oh, I hope so much that they make this and it turns out to be good and not lame...
I like to think I'm at least partially responsible for this after my many emails to the BBC going: "SJ spinoff? Pretty please?"
Anyway...

He's pencilled (himself!) in as Script Editor, but yeah - all over it, like a rash. *Rolls eyes.*

For some reason the title suggests to me an educational sort of thing. Which I can actually see working. Or possibly it's just been a long boring day at work, so anything's better than that :)
