My plans for the evening got cancelled on me, thank goodness, which meant I had time to eat dinner and wade through most of my inbox and, oh yeah, rewatch last week's Scott & Bailey ep. :P How is there only one left? I am not okay with this!
God, Janet, this week! Watching her and Chris banter and flirt was so delightful. I wouldn't've expected them to have such good chemistry at the beginning of the season, but by now they really do. Of course, whether that gets to go anywhere since Janet's clearly going to have to deal with repercussions from the crash, and may not want a perpetual reminder of it, well. But sassy Janet!
Adored her and Rach and their mutual comfort thing, too - Rachel is still a child, still childish, in so many ways, but she has grown up so much this season as well, and she's trying so hard into the bargain. Both waiting to tell Janet about her mom and knowing that she had to tell Janet at a particular point in time or else it would get weird were decisions Rachel couldn't have made in s1 - or even, maybe, in s3.
I absolutely adored Rach and Alison sitting in Giraffe and bonding over chips, too. I love, love, love that the show didn't force them to grieve 'properly,' whatever that's even meant to mean, and yet still gave us moments of surprising poignancy like Rach seeing her mom in her mobile contacts.
And Gill and Julie...! Ughhh, I'm sad that I called it, that Julie is coming in sort of wielding the power of her position - thus far it looks like she is negotiating it without making Gill too sad, but, uh, this week's ep looks a little more stressful on those terms! Gah! and I STILL DON'T WANT GILL TO RETIRE, ahem, I mean... actually I'm glad the show lampshaded that a bit, too, with Rach asking straight out what the hell Gill would actually do in retirement! God. Clearly retiring is one of those decisions Gill made after a drink or five or something.
Also: apparently 'slap' is a reciprocal nickname, used by Gill for Julie and by Julie for Gill? i have a lot of feelings about this and I am not entirely certain I know what they are. (Things I also have a lot of feelings about: Julie eating at her desk. No, you shut up.)
I'm actually kind of too tired to be nervous about Wednesday's ep. I'm sure I'll get there, though. And then I can start being nervous about whether they'll do a s5...

riiiiiiight? I find it so fascinating! It's clearly a personal language, like, it's not like 'slap' is a common thing, so there's obviously some kind of history there! But slap could come out of so many things, too, like - slap and tickle? Slapper? IDK IDK! I kind of like the idea that it's a shorthand for their friendship that goes both ways...
(so much eternal loooove)

(I kinda don't want it to be a reference to "slapper", though? Like, the show is usually good about calling out that kind of casual sexual judgement and it's a word I personally dislike so I am biased, lol. But it's so random and adorable and I just love them omg.)

The thing with slapper -

Oh, I definitely don't think they'd be referring to "slapper", like, seriously: if it is that, it's definitely ironic/possibly even reclaiming. I just hate the word! And I actually don't think Gill or Julie would have been called it, unless one or both of them is SERIOUSLY putting work into hiding where she came from. It's a very, very class-filled word: it doesn't just mean hooker, it means CHEAP hooker. If anyone in the show has been called that, it's Rachel.
(Oh god two hours fifteen minutes to go...)

K, WE DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF NO SEASON 5, IT WILL HAPPEN, IT MUST HAPPEN, OH GOD.
(...the ratings seem to be doing quite well? ITV seems to be considering it quite favourably? So I think chances are good. But oh god.)

I'm just imagining her response to the bloke who's got judgement bad enough to bust that out on her. I feel it would end Very Badly for him.
(aside: I have so much love for that scene at the beginning of last week's ep, where she and Gill are on the moor and Rach just owns coming up with all the immediate questions and Gill gives her that good girl! smile and UGH. melts)
I cannot about the idea of s5 like what if there is no more Gill and what if horrible things happen and what if everyone on the show needs hugs and we can't hug them because they're fictional characters and we're being frankly ridiculous, WHAT THEN

(YES OH MY GOD RACHEL IS LEARNING AND GROWING AND GILL IS TOTALLY SECRETLY PROUD AND MY HEART)
