tellitslant: helen magnus with a big gun (sanctuary - helen - carry a big gun)
While I was in Arizona last week, my mom was checking in on my house, mainly to make sure nothing else plumbing-related happened while I was gone. When I got in very late on Tuesday night/early on Wednesday morning, though, the security alarm was off, which was a bit disconcerting - but then I noticed the microwave clock was off, so we'd apparently had a power failure. I'd expect the alarm to have a battery or something, but who knows.

Yesterday, as I was doing laundry, I opened the laundry chute and pulled out a pileup of towels that I hadn't gotten around to washing for a while. And smack in the middle of the stack was a blue button-up shirt that does not belong to me.

...d'you think I can get them to do the laundry next time, instead of adding to it?

Fourteen years ago this Easter I came to England for the first time, on a school trip with my junior high (the Riverbend Rovers, we were called - oh, alliteration). Half my life later, and I live here now.

...that's kinda cool, eh?

(Even if, every year at this time, I wish like hell that I could find a store that sold paska, because oh my god I miss it. Also proper kielbasa, goddamn, England, get with the program. *g*)

So instead of NaNoWriMo, [livejournal.com profile] beccatoria is doing National Vidlet Making Month, and I prompted her for a River song vid with a few options from my personal River fanmix made up of songs by Canadian artists, and ANYWAYS, LOOK WHAT SHE MADE.

Yes. It's a River/Doctor vid to "1000 Goodbyes" by Captain Tractor. :DDDDD

It is an absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking vidlet and I love it. :DDDDD

GO HERE TO DOWNLOAD IT AND TELL HER HOW AWESOME SHE IS.

I think this excellently conveys the "OH HI I AM SLIDING INTO THE RAVINE" feel of my afternoon.

Backstory: My current English 302 assignment is to write a pastoral vision of the North Saskatchewan river valley. So I went back to the part of the ravine that means the most to me. It was an oddly unsettling afternoon. I took pictures.
for more on why not to go wandering through a ravine in a rainy October weekend, look within (not dial-up friendly) )
