HBP spoiler/spec, but probably only makes sense if you've read the book )

And here's the spoiler-free stuff that I meant to say last night but was too tired.

I'm so very glad that I went in unspoiled.

I enjoyed the first read of this one far more than OotP. It was much, much more captivating. I had a couple issues with the writing at the beginning (commas *facepalm*), but as I got closer to the end, I actually found myself going back and re-reading passages, which isn't something I usually do, especially in a first-read book where I want to finish it so badly. The last half of the book took me about fifteen minutes longer than the first half, a lot of which was probably re-reading (and blinking in utter shock, that was probably in there as well). Total reading time approxmately two hours fifteen minutes, which shocked the shit out of me as I was expecting it to take me at least a couple more hours. Testament to how caught up I was, I think.

I wish it were longer. I think there were a few things that could have been expanded on quite nicely. And I was expecting to actually be up till some obscene hour (although it's good that I wasn't, as I was almost falling asleep already).

But I laughed, I cried, I beat things, I made funny noises, I squirmed in delight. It was good fun.

I cannot believe that there's only one left, too. At least after that we'll have the movies.

Also, worst-case scenario, I think my thesis got jossed. *facepalm* Which is to say, there is still an argument to be made, but now the evidence doesn't support it exclusively. Unless. Hm. Note to self - think stereotypical caretaker role, maybe? Even wrt attraction. OK, never mind, I just talked myself back into it. Nothing to see here, move along. (I still do not like it, characterisation-wise.)

Anyways, it has now been twelve hours since I first finished the book. I think I'm going to go out for a nice lunch and re-read and make notes and stuff. *squee* I'm so glad that I'm looking forward to re-reading this much.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] eirena and I? Obviously the worst midnight lineup fans ever, what with the whole being sooo excited waiting to head down to the store that we fell asleep. *facepalm* Ah well. Loads of people in line looooved my Sytherin shirt. It was good.
