I actually find it surprising that Gill as the character that she is would want to retire. I mean, she loves her job so much, and she's so good at it! If anything, I could see her taking Sammy finally finishing school as a chance to try and get back on whatever the Crime Faculty is called, because she clearly misses that like crazy. I mean, what's she going to do, anyway? Garden? She'll be bored out of her tree. No pun intended. :P She just seems to thrive on being a workaholic.

Also, I would totally read that fic.
