Okay. Start with the pilot. It's ridiculous, but also necessary. And Sam's first scene is hilarimazing.
I have trouble reccing eps like this, because I am such an obsessive about watching shows straight through. You should definitely watch the first five eps – through and including 'The Broca Divide' – and 'Cold Lazarus'. Those will set you up. (And maybe we should watch 'Emancipation' together, because -- oh my GOD, the fail entertainment value is so high. Also Sam wears a very special hat.) If you want to skip, Sam really starts coming into her own in 'Solitudes' (trapped on a glacier with MacGyver!) and one of my very favorite episodes, 'Singularity.' That'll keep you for a bit.
Also, BWAHAHA.

I really prefer watching straight through too, and I have tried that with the Stargates before, but the trouble is I don't much LIKE them. Though all my previous SG posts are basically "I don't understand where people get Jack/Daniel from BUT WOW SAM IS AWESOME ISN'T SHE." So either I will get sucked in this time now that I am already Tappingized, or I will need to grit my teeth and pop in and out to eps where Sam is truly incredible. I will give the first few a try, though - I don't remember anything about them.
Props for not immediately just recommending that I go straight to the Janet eps, though. I'm impressed. :D
