Please to be checking out white_lotus (*proud mod preen*) where there are many excellent fanworks all handily browsable by tag. Specific authors you might want to check out include lizbee and damkianna, and eruthros and glass_icarus have made great icons. some recs live here, more recs live here, and this is the fandom tag on my journal.

I second the rec for white_lotus! Being on DW, it post-dates all the wank, and was a lovely introduction to fandom.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS IDK I have to admit a couple of the pairings I feel intensely shameful about are in that fandom, so I'm not sure that my recs would, in general, be useful, but I can definitively say that lizbee has written some fantastic stuff. pearl_o wrote a fantastic post-series gen story, as well, "Sun Blast Your Shadow", and I can't put my hands on the link at the moment but I'm sure it's in my delicious somewhere, so I'll see if I can hunt it down for you.

A friend pointed me to this story (http://archiveofourown.org/works/120337) after I sat here cursing the skies when they didn't tell me what happened to Azula after the big fight. If there's one thing I believe in, it's that Azula should be in all of the things. Preferably with Ty Lee, but in all of the things.
